| | General Overview | - What is The Knowledge-Mart?
The Knowledge-Mart is a one-stop learning resource – providing an all-inclusive site containing a variety of online courses, including career training, skills development, tutorials, and more. Our courses are conducted online through a virtual classroom atmosphere with a live Knowledge Provider (instructor). This allows learners to interact directly with the Knowledge Provider more effectively. - Who are Knowledge Providers?
Knowledge Providers are US-based, skilled professionals and experts in their respective fields who conduct the online training sessions. Our instructors come from a wide variety of mainstream industries and bring forth their knowledge, career-oriented skills, and professional experience to deliver a comprehensive learning program. All instructors are required to undergo a rigorous evaluation procedure prior to conducting online training sessions with The Knowledge-Mart. - Why should I register as a Knowledge Provider with The Knowledge-Mart?
Registering as a Knowledge Provider provides you the opportunity to showcase your skills and professional experience while earning additional income in your spare time. - What are the advantages of online training over conventional training methods?
Online training provides learners with the convenience and flexibility of taking courses in your own home or office while saving valuable time and money often spent attending off-site training or seminars. Training Magazine reports companies save from 50-70% when they replace instructor-led training with electronic content delivery.
The Knowledge-Mart takes learning to a new level by offering a virtual learning atmosphere where business learners can receive training and reach their optimum potential in a timely manner so they can begin contributing to the company’s profitability. Opting for e-learning also means shorter sessions that can be spread out over several days or weeks so the business doesn’t lose an employee for days at a time. - As a Knowledge-Provider, am I committed to teaching a set amount of hours each month?
No, our Knowledge-Providers operate as independent contractors and have no set amount of hours each month. Your teaching hours vary each month and are dependent upon course enrollment. When learners enroll for your course(s), you and the learner(s) decide on a mutually convenient time for the course instruction. - What types of courses are offered at The Knowledge-Mart?
From career development to personal interest, The Knowledge-Mart offers a variety of learning solutions to meet various learning needs. Currently, The Knowledge-Mart offers courses in the areas of Business & Management, Information Technology (IT) and legal. All courses are taught in the English language unless otherwise noted.
Our future goals are to expand our course offerings based on the wants and needs of our learners - How many courses can I teach at a time?
Typically, we allow our instructors to create a course in the approved discipline area provided at registration. However, we may allow you to publish a course in other categories we deem your skills suitable for. To upload a course in a new category, simply add the course in your current discipline and our course administrator will approve and make this addition to your profile.
All course content must be approved through The Knowledge-Mart prior to offering the course. - Who does The Knowledge-Mart target its courses towards?
Knowledge is power and in today’s competitive marketplace, it’s a necessity. The Knowledge-Mart is the perfect solution for individuals, small to medium-sized businesses and corporations searching for a convenient, timely and cost-effective training resource that minimizes travel and time away from the home or office. - How can I generate interest in my specific courses offered through The Knowledge-Mart?
The Knowledge-Mart provides a marketing platform for you to showcase your education, experience, skills and knowledge. Through our marketing efforts, we generate interest in prospective learners who want to further their knowledge through a convenient, virtual online training atmosphere.
Providing as much information to promote your course and training capabilities including your skills and experience is imperative when creating your profile in creating awareness and establishing yourself as a qualified Knowledge-Provider.
| | Top | | Getting Started as a Knowledge Provider | - How do I register as a Knowledge Provider?
Registering as a Knowledge Provider with The Knowledge-Mart is easy – there’s no bidding for jobs and we limit the number of providers in each category. Simply go to our home page and click on the “Knowledge Provider” tab located at the top of the page. Fill out the requested information and submit. Once your information has been reviewed and verified, we will contact you with a confirmation email including detailed information for your registration. - I don't live in the US – can I still register as a Knowledge Provider?
At this time, registration as a Knowledge Provider is only open to individuals located in the US. This is due to the flexible timing and nature of our online training platform. - Why do learners need to view my profile and resume if I am already approved as a Knowledge Provider?
Our learners want the security and confidence of knowing our instructors are experienced, educated, and skilled professionals who can meet their training needs. This is also where you will post a synopsis of the course you are offering. Many learners make their course selection based on the instructor’s qualifications. To protect your privacy, we advise not to post any personal information such as home address, phone or any other pertinent personal information - Are there any costs involved to register as a Knowledge Provider?
No, there are no costs involved to register as a Knowledge Provider. - How will I be paid and when?
Your income is based on consumer demand and depends on the number of classes you deliver each month. You are paid according to the hourly rate you have established and upon completion of the course session. To claim payment, go to your Knowledge-Mart account and submit for payment.
Payments are made through Paypal or company check, upon your preference.
| | Top | | About Course Content | - Is course content created for learners based on their pre-existing knowledge in the given area of interest?
Since we can’t predict a learner’s pre-existing level of knowledge in their area of interest, we advise our instructors to create the course content for various levels and allow the learner to select the course based on this level. - What is the established criteria for presentation of the course content?
Presentation of course materials is entirely at your discretion. Course material can be presented through Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint or in Adobe Acrobat PDF documents. You can also include specific applications, and reports by executing those applications through the web conference tools. Since the learner will be viewing all course material directly from your desktop through the web conference site, the learner will not need to purchase any additional software to view the course content. - Who decides the costs of courses I provide?
The Knowledge-Mart provides you with a marketing platform and helps you commoditize your expertise in the form of various courses. Your hourly rate primarily decides the cost of your course. The Knowledge-Mart adds commission (usually 5-10% of your hourly rate) to cover marketing, web infrastructure and support costs. - Do I need to upload my course content to The Knowledge-Mart site?
No, you do not need to upload your course content. You own your course material and keep them on your computer to share during the training sessions. This also means you are responsible for ensuring your course material does not infringe on any copyrighted content. - Can I modify course outline or cost once it is published?
Yes, we allow providers to update the course outline and cost. You will be able to do this through your account access. Contact our Customer Service to have the changes made within our system.
| | Top | | Virtual Learning Atmosphere | - How is the online training conducted? who decides the timing of the training?
When a learner purchases your course, you both are responsible for selecting a convenient and mutually acceptable time for the training session. As soon as you confirm the date and time of the class with the learner and in your Knowledge-Mart account, the Knowledge-Mart will collect payment and schedule the course through an online conferencing tool such as Web-Ex, GoToMeeting, or Acrobat Connect.
After this is scheduled, The Knowledge-Mart will send you and the learner a confirmation email including web conferencing URL, conference bridge details and necessary password or access information. Through this web conferencing tool, you can deliver your training “live” and interactive by sharing your desktop with the learners to enable each of you to view the course material consecutively. - What type of software or hardware do I need?
All courses through the Knowledge-Mart are delivered by our Knowledge Providers via live and real-time through a web meeting platform. You do not need to have access to any live feeds or webcams. There is no additional software which you will need to purchase. You will need the following essentials to be able to participate in our online training sessions:
· Internet Access ( Internet Browsers - Internet Explorer 6.0, Netscape or Firefox)
· Landline or Wireless Telephone Access
· PC or MacIntosh Desktop or Laptop Computer - What is the process for connecting to the virtual classroom on the day and time of the scheduled course?
On the day and time of your course, you will need to go to the url listing indicated in your course confirmation email and dial into the conference bridge number via your phone. Once connected, learners will be able to view your desktop to enable sharing of course materials between learners and instructors. - How will I be able to interact with the learner(s)?
Interacting with learners is one of the most important aspects of our online learning process. You are able to interact via phone during the scheduled course session as well as through the online meeting platform. Our online meeting platform also provides VoIP access so you can participate using a headset, if you prefer. Based on your telephone service provider, you may incur charges for the telephone call. - Will there be additional participants as part of the learning session?
To keep the overall costs low for our learners, we encourage group sessions for each training session. There could be additional participants enrolled in your session. However, since we offer our customers the flexibility of scheduling courses to meet their needs, most of our training sessions are conducted 1:1. - What type of course materials will I need to prepare and provide?
Our Knowledge Providers prepare notes, presentations and other training materials to share with learners during the course. You may also share publicly available reference material or books as you seem appropriate. - Can I change the time of my session after the session is scheduled?
We understand issues may arise which may cause you to need to reschedule your session. If you need to reschedule your session, you are responsible for contacting your learner(s) directly to do so prior to the scheduled session. - How will my training skills be measured and by whom?
As a Knowledge Provider, you are a freelancer as well as a professional in your respective fields. The Knowledge-Mart implements a Customer Feedback survey to learners after the completion of their course. Customer feedback provided by learners helps both The Knowledge-Mart and our Knowledge Providers by providing valuable input on the course materials, presentation skills and more to assist in ensuring we are providing the highest quality learning experience.
